Growing up, Hailey was always the kid with a camera. From family vacations to high school football games, you’d find Hailey with a camera strung around her neck.
Today, she works as a staff visual journalist for the Daily Astorian based in Astoria, Ore. Her coverage ranges across the beach towns of the North Coast, as far south as Manzanita, Ore., to deep into the logging communities of the Clatsop State Forest. Her work is also featured in the Seaside Signal, Chinook Observer, Coast Weekend and Our Coast magazine.
Hailey comfortably shoots on both Canon and Nikon cameras and has the FAA Part 107 certification for commercial drone use.
Originally from Las Vegas, she received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Visual Journalism and Spanish and with an endorsement from the Honors Program at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash.
In the past, she interned with the Skagit Valley Herald based in Mount Vernon, Wash., and for Bellingham Alive magazine in Bellingham, Wash. Her work has been featured in the Courier-Times, in the Argus, in the Cascadia Weekly and more. As a student journalist at WWU, she worked for the Western Front, the AS Review, the Klipsun and the Planet magazine.
In her free time, she loves to explore the bountiful nature of the Northwest, to hit the slopes of the closest mountain or to read a book in a cozy coffeeshop. After years of photography, her camera is still her closest companion.
